David makes his PNG visit

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

Spent last week up in PNG coaching the Academy boys that will represent the South Pacific in the AFL National U16 championships. Making sure the boys fitness levels, skills and diets were up to scratch – only 4-5 weeks and its game on. Ben Tirang is in great condition and I can see how he will have a great carnival. Daniel Gitau looks to be a real talent and appears to be doing the work to develop further. Ori Nilmo who represented Queensland last year looks set to be one of the real leaders in this group. Up and comers Harry Kambou, Luke Savere, Hosea Wartovo and Nane Rai looks set to have great futures if they continue to work as they are. Old stagers Scott Johnson and Michael Macca will be very important to the success of the side.

The boys travel to Sydney July 4th – 14th 2012 and play at Blacktown.

Spent the day at Senior Football on Saturday watching all the teams go at it in readiness for the season starting in 4 weeks. Time for Tribal Sport (our new eis brand)to supply the Jerseys, Shorts and socks again. Lae seniors looking to place their order with Tribal as well. Tribal Sport starting to put its stamp on AFL PNG.

Took the opportunity to catch up with some clients – Nambawan Super, PML, AFL PNG, Kwila Insurance, Supreme Industries, Oil Search, Cricket PNG and others. Caught up with the Australian Trade Commissioner Kevan Dacey – what a great bloke.

Was a great 8 days. You have to love the combative nature of the locals. Their spirit in life is enormous, never complaining about what they don’t have only looking forward to enjoying what they do have. Great to be around them.

Look forward to heading to PNG again soon.
